Sleepy Baby

THIS IS HARMONY

Harmony was born of a vision. As a Registered Nurse and Board Certified Lactation Consultant working with families in Macomb County for over 13 years, I saw disparities in which communities had available In-Home Lactation and Breastfeeding care.

You have chanced across Harmony because you know the importance of finding timely baby feeding support and education that will meet your family's needs. Your breastfeeding journey is completely unique; like a snowflake, there will never be another journey like the one you take with your child. Whether this is your first child, or fifth, they are each unique in need and character. You also have found that there are an umbrella of breastfeeding challenges that can be confusing to figure out by yourself.

When you trust Harmony, you invite a Practitioner to your relationship who can help guide you, your baby, and your family through the unexpected challenges that often accompany breastfeeding. You will receive up-to-date, evidence-based care and guidance while learning how to navigate the difficulties you and your baby might be experiencing. While breastfeeding is natural, it is a process that becomes easier with practice and learning. You may have found that your best-made plans and expectations after birth did not turn out as expected. Flexibility and an openness to outside support can be most beneficial. With new life comes wonder, joy and a deep need to remain flexible.

I have been caring for vulnerable newborns, children and their families for over 13 years in a hospital-based setting as a Registered Nurse. I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) over 6 years ago and have been in charge of developing the Breastfeeding Program at a local hospital for over 3 years. During this time, I have worked with thousands of families while they learn how to listen to what their babies are telling them. I have taught parents how to work with their babies as they both learn to breastfeed. Babies truly are born to breastfeed. They have developed and practiced the skills and reflexes to do so during your pregnancy. They are seasoned at knowing what to do when they are born. It is part of their survival skills. But because they are human, like all of us, to become very skilled at something, continued learning is needed. And some need a little more time and help than others.

I am a healthcare provider. I am an educator. I am a listener. And oftentimes I am a detective. I am a mother, just like you. I have dedicated over 16 years to mothering. Like you, I struggled with learning how to breastfeed when things did not go as I had planned. I have learned and relearned how to parent, just like you. I struggled with challenges that felt completely unique, just like you. And mostly, I understood the importance of breast milk feeding for my children. I delighted in the boundless joys of providing what only a mother can provide for her children, just like you. I also struggled and felt like I was alone on the biggest and steepest mountains, carrying the responsibilities of good mothering on my tired shoulders. So you see, we are the same while uniquely different, because we are all mothers.

Harmony is the embrace of you and your baby to create a balance that brings a quiet place. I am passionate about guiding your journey. It is the heart of Harmony.

This is Harmony.
